CHALLENGER CRITICIZES CONGRESSMAN EARL BLUMENAUER FOR DEFENDING CONTINUED EBOLA FLIGHTS
Yesterday Congressman Earl Blumenauer warned against restricting travel between the United States and West African countries where the Ebola plague continues to spiral out of control. According to Blumenauer, “People in affected countries still find a way to travel, and governments could have a harder time tracking those movements”.
Challenger James Buchal stated: “This is just another in a long line of cases where Blumenauer defends whatever idiocy or criminality is coming out of the Obama Administration. It is obvious that Congressman Blumenauer not only does not have the interests of his constituents at heart;; he also thinks they are fools.”
“Anyone from West Africa who finds another way to travel to the United States other than an airplane is probably going to be long past the incubation period by the time he or she gets here,” said Buchal. “Obama’s belated plan of screening people at five major airports won’t accomplish much unless people are showing up after that incubation period is over.”
Congressman Blumenauer is one of the only incumbent Democratic politicians in Oregon unwilling to engage in public debates with his opponent. Thus far, Portland news organizations have given Blumenauer’s dodging a free pass from adverse coverage.
